A Brief Summary of 2019
2019 proved to be another busy year for us, with fund raising being of vital importance as the level of requests for assistance increased.
A Spring Fashion Show held in Wedmore, once again proved to be our most popular event, raising over £4000. Our thanks to Claire and Lime Boutique for all the hard work that goes into the preparation of the evening.
A new venture was the Easter Coffee morning held at Wedmore Golf Club with Easter themed gifts, decorations, food and much more on sale. It was extremely well supported and raised over £1100 and we would hope to repeat this in future years.
And the popular Christmas Coffee morning at Burnham and Berrow Golf Club started the holiday season off in a very festive fashion. With matched funding from our bankers, Barclays, nearly £2500 was raised.
As ever, we would not be able to help as many children without the support of a great many individuals, groups and societies and local companies. Where possible, we claim Gift Aid on qualifying donations and every such donation, however small, is thus increased by 25%. We thank everyone who has raised money for us this year.
A steady stream of requests meant that this year we helped 25 children with specialised equipment and educational toys. Where possible we try to fund each item entirely, but on a couple of occasions, the entire cost was beyond our means, However, we were able to make a donation which meant the item could be purchased on a joint basis.
Items provided included supportive car seating, trikes, communication apps for ipad, walking aids, specialised buggies, visual magnification aids and switch adapted toys.
