Somerset Art Weeks 2017
'A feast of food and art' was promised at the Shapwick venue, and visitors were not disappointed.
During the fortnight, over a thousand people came to view and buy the art of 16 Somerset artists. There was a diverse range of media on show - oil and watercolour painting, pottery, tapestry, papier mâché, garden ceramics and metalwork and textiles. In addition, Meriel cooked delicious home-made lunches each day which proved as popular as ever, and the committee provided a constant supply of home baked cakes.
On the opening Saturday, a reception was held to mark the 30th anniversary of Help the Child.
Our thanks to Meriel and Robert who so generously gave over their house to the exhibition, and also donated all profit from the food to Help the Child. The artists also donated a proportion of their sales to the charity which, together with many individual donations, resulted in the amazing sum of £7000 being raised from the event.
